Schwab Family Cruise 2026 - Bar

We were up early again as we attempt to get acclimated to the time change. The family insisted I attend breakfast at Hudson's with them. I don't mind the company but I prefer the options in the buffet. I kept things simple and ordered the yogurt parfait and a side of sausage which for some reason came on a big plate. Bar was not our original port of call though we did have fun finding different ways to use the word bar. Kerry eventually barred us for coming up with new ones. Bar is our only port in Montenegro and was not a very lively place on a Sunday.

The port itself is definitely not set up to accept cruise ship passengers and although it might have been a bustling port at one time there was virtually no economic activity. There were rows upon rows of aluminum billets stacked up as well as a parking lot of Peugeot cars but most of the port sat empty. We had to take a shuttle from the dock to a promenade just outside of the shipping area. My complaint here is that if this wasn't our original port of call it would have been nice for them to bus us a bit further to something interesting. Callie indicated they have their own 'old town' but it wasn't really worth paying to get to considering our other ports.

The one thing Callie did find was a church that looked interesting. The only trouble we ran into was that it was Sunday so mass was underway and it's not nice to wander around taking pictures while the priest is chanting so we had to wait a bit.  The church had beautiful murals but it was primarily just plaster domes and arches with the paintings. I'm not sure the denomination but the service involved mostly chanting. The highlight of the day was that Carter saw another famous basketball player. They are easy to spot and he looked him up to confirm he did come from this area.

We wandered about a bit but since it was Sunday not much was open and the town isn't really set up as a tourist destination. The area we were in had a few people asking for change and some derelict buildings. We stopped by the beach to dip our feet into the Adriatic sea before heading back to the ship. Callie and Kerry attended a Salsa class and we went out to dinner as a family. Our next destination is Athens which will take us two days to get there so we'll be at sea all day tomorrow. I don't mind the break but I'm sure I will be going a bit squirrely by the afternoon.
