I sure am glad that Callie enjoys planning birthday parties so much. With Carter's party in September things get a bit hectic with back to school time. This year he decided he wanted a super hero party and Callie helped with shopping, making the goodie bags and making the super hero juice that included two flavours. Hulk punch and Spiderman punch. She even helped with the decorations on the day of and was completely responsible for this nicely set table.
After several years of somewhat poorly executed cakes thrown together on an evening at work, mostly by me, we broke down and bought Carter's cake. Much easier and in the grand scheme of things really not that expensive. We found out afterwards that it even included a battery operated light thing that probably would have looked pretty cool in the dark. (I don't really agree with this. Seems like a bit of a waste but it probably only cost them a dollar or two to include. We'll have to watch for cakes with less plastic next time.)
My favourite point of the party was when Carter went and got one of the lawn chairs and set it up in the present opening area. Callie always opens her presents in the same spot we had no idea how important it was to Carter. I think he really enjoyed being the centre of attention even if it was only for a few moments.
